They are trying to sign Terry and Lescott as well, and they've signed Barry, so I don't think you can accuse them of neglecting any area.

You can't criticise them too much for trying to achieve things quickly, after all it'll only be 3 or 4 years before Notts are hoovering up all the trophies, then where will they be?

Laughed out loud. +1.

Trying is different to completing. They need defenders still.

Thank you Yoda.

When they didn't get Eto'o they made an offer on Adebayor - Hughes is no mug, if they don't sign Terry and/or Lescott, they'll just move to next name on the list.

Ched Evans has always looked a very useful striker to me.

I think Dexstock will sign for us, but I'm not sure when.

It also sounds like DB will go fcuking mental if we don't get two fullbacks in, and who could blame the b@stard?

Anyone know what this Pole is all about?  The next Polish Lars Bohinen?

Ched Evans is being linked with Newcastle, if they ever sort themselves out. Although (with luck) they could be halfway to the third division by then.

On the basis that the League takes around 2 weeks to complete their fit persons test. If Newcastle are sold this week, the season will have started before any transfers take place.

However, according to the grauniad today, Ashley may well not be able to complete a quick sale because of the level of financial commitments. They speculate the Geordies could do a Leeds. I for one wouldn't be too sorry as I don't think they have yet paid their dues for 1974.

Indeed. The closer we get to the new season the more I'm enjoying their lack of activity and closure of the mess they have themselves in. It's slightly strange that a few of the bigger players are still there too - Viduke and Martins to name two. There could be some real bargains in the current climate - I can see the likes of Blackburn or Villa picking Martins up for £4-£5mill.

Chambers made captain - surprises me a bit, but I think he was also captain at Northampton, so I assume he has the right personality for it.

Didn't Wilson take over captaincy when Perch wasn't playing?

Since when? I just read on the NEP that he'd be happy to be captain, but not that he's been given it.

He made his debut in the FA Cup 1st round match against Nottingham Forest which ended as a 1-1 draw and received plaudits for his defensive duties.
