Is starting to get on my tits. Surely the Ghurkas know what they are signing up to when they join the British Forces?

I agree, some article in a paper, the retired Ghurkas are paid more than a Tibetan cabinet minister - It's all relative.

I'm on the fence.
Points against allowing them into the UK...
- they knew the deal when they signed up - their salary and pension is huge compared to the average wage in Tibet - the government puts money into developing the Tibeten infrastructure - <BNP> can we continually absorb immigrants? When does it stop? </BNP> - should they be allowed to move here and use our public services having never paid any taxes here? AND their immediate family?
Points for...
- they fought and died for us, we owe them - the numbers are small, why are we being such cnuts - would this set a precedent for other areas?
On balance, it feels to me like the Gurkha's are just glorified mercenaries aren't they? Hard working, dedicated, amazing, but just paid fighters at the end of the day? Therefore sorry, but no. IMHO.

Is it possible to have a dedicated mercenary?

So do all those kids who stitch training shoes for 10p a day. Doesn't make it right; even if it's more than their neighbours earn.

Depends whether you take the added extras from the salesman.

Has Joanna Lumley ever fought Taleban with nothing but a novelty knife and an unusual hat? No. In that case, she doesn't know what she's talking about.

Totally different. The kids are forced into this and the Gurkas are not. Im about where Shady is on the matter.

Whatever the financial incentive, if you put your life on the line for the country then you deserve to be able to live in it. Most of them have done more for this country than any of us cnuts. Thinking we can buy peoples lives for our disposal because theyre not from round these parts was shown to be a little inconsiderate a few centuries back.

Ok; can we throw out all the wasters who have contributed less while we are at it?

The Gurkhas are from Nepal, aren't they? It's that Dalai Lama chap who is from Tibet. Or are they such saints we expect them to not complain because we help out in he neighbourhood?

To be fari, I doubt that the UK is giving much to help the Chinese government build infrastructure in Tibet.
